Hey peoples!! I know it’s been like 2 weeks since I’ve updated…had mid-term after mid-term…but any hoo…
Last night, Oct 21 2010, I had the opportunity to see FM perform in my city! Yeah, a city in freezing cold Canada! Never would I have thought FM would come to my city so fast, since they’re so fresh outta the oven! But about a month ago, it was announced that they were coming and I bought my ticket as soon as I was able to!
As a FM fan for about 2-3 years, it really made one of my dreams come true. I watch them birth hit songs such as Girls on the Dance Floor, Like A G6, and many more! I also watched them get signed to Cherrytree Interscope Records! Though Jin was the first Asian American to sign to a big label, FM is the first Asian American group to make it big in mainstream music and onto the BIG charts, such as Billboards and Itunes. Yeah, I’m proud to be Asian but music is music, an universal language. Seeing the way Like A G6 blew up the charts, race or ethnicity was not a major factor for FM. They had the passion, hearts and dreams to make it this far! Like A G6 hit #1 two days ago, beating out their homie, Bruno Mars! Being able to celebrate with them for the Billboards and the birth of a new baby, FREE WIRED, was really special!
Enough with the blabbing and on we go…
I was so excited that I didn’t even turn my phone off for my mid-term like i was supposed to and just turned it on silent, knowing FM would tweet their whereabouts or what they were doing
So…the event promoters said doors open at 8:30PM while FM said it was 8:00PM on FB events. So I decided to get there early to get in line, since there were a few hundred people attending the event. Doors weren’t open and it was a cold night, despite a really warm day, so I went into the mall (connected to where the event was held) and walked around, hoping to be lucky to catch FM (even though I knew they might’ve been setting up or something…) Finally got in the doors a few minutes after 8:30PM, got my ID checked, patted down and grabbed a seat. In front of the stage was the open dance floor area with a few tables w/o chairs. My friends and I wanted the ones with chairs, so went to the right side of the stage and got second row of seats. The place was pretty much like a lounge bar. The DJs of the events started DJing while people were getting in, settled and slizzurd. Nothing but musicand dancing was happening till about 11PM. People who didn’t feel like dancing just sat and stood around waiting for something to happen. At 11PM, the opening act comes on. It was a Canadian singer that’s not really big but big enough to have her music played on the radio. She sang a few songs and got off stage. That took like 20mins. The DJs then told the crows that FM was going on stage in 10mins. That didn’t happen for the next half hour, till 12AM. At 12AM, the party finally started and FM came out in their space helmets and people just went crazy, including me!! They performed maybe about 7 songs or so…I don’t quite remember…LOL! (What a fan, eh?) GOTDF, like a g6, rocketeer, she owns the night, fetish, so what, and i think 1 or 2 more songs…don’t quite remember. That took about 45-50mins.
Virman continued to DJ while the rest of them went backstage for like 5-10mins. FM then announced the meet and greet (it was really just picture time!). I got in line and then like 5mins later, security was told to cut the line off. I tried to explain and he didn’t care…but it’s not like he would’ve understood anyways…The line got cut off at like 10-15 people in front of me. I was like “WTF?!?!?!” I was also like “this is not cool! it cannot happen! I had to get my album signed and my pic take with FM!! I am a Cherrybomber!!” (So we all know FM signed with Cherrytree, like I mentioned above. FM has a weekly Saturday party mix where Virman/Brass mixes up music for an hour and chats with the fans. I’ve been to almost all of those shows cuz I am dedicated fan!! So all the fans there are called “cherrybombers”, as the show is called “cherrybomb”) So while that security was talking to a group of guys telling them to just leave, I snuck past him and into the line. The other security didn’t really care and let me in line. There was only like 2 people in front of me then and I was so excited!!
I think Kev knew I was trying to give him my card all night, since I was pretty much in front of the stage on the side trying to give it to them! I got to touch all their hands, except Virman (who was busy dj-ing while they performed). I think he knew because when I walked up to them, Kev starting thanking me for it! So I asked them to sign my CD and they were happy to do that (cuz they said they were gonna be signing them on twitter…which not a whole lot of people knew…i was like one of the only two or three people that knew!)!! They asked for my name while shaking their hands and I told them also them I was a Cherrybomber and they were like, woah, cool! And then they were like, “what’s do you use as your sign in?” I said, “Michelle or aka epiklove91@twitter!” and they were thinking that it sounded familiar, and J-Splif actually remembers! (now I know he’s behind some of the tweets, since he doesn’t have FB!! hahaha! i spam them too often XD) They seemed so happy to meet a Cherrybomber! Hahaha!! I got some hugs and a few high fives from them! Before I left, they just told me, “See you saturday!”, since cherrybomb is on saturday night!! they are such humble men!! love you guys FM (if you guys are reading this…lol!!)
In conclusion, the whole thing didn’t end till about 1AM and I got home around 1:20AM and hopped into bed before 1:30AM. Had class a 9AM the next day (today), which i surprisingly got up my usual time but got downstairs to eat breakfast and make my lunch 10mins early. but out the door 3mins late, still got to class early now that’s #freewired!! haha!

(Jae: food is not surprising to us fans! and there is nothing that you find only in edmonton…we have everything everywhere already has! and doing the interview in “chinatown” of the mall doesn’t distinguish who the guys are…asians..lol!!)

Sadly…all the info I have right now is:
Once again, it’s in May on a Saturday. Specifically, May 1st @ 6:30 PM at the usual location, Hollywood Bowl in California. Please google map it if you need to ^^
One thing I don’t like about it is they try to rip money off ticket buyers because…
1) tickets are expensive…ranges from ~$15-$200 USD (if i remember). It all depends on where you sit in the crowd.
2) they announce the attending artists every week (or is it every 2 weeks?! don’t remember >.<) starting from maybe February. As a result…it’s hard to refund tickets when you don’t like the attending artists.
But…the concert is quite worth it because it can be such a party, even when you’re with random people you don’t know.
A few things I DO like about the concert is…
1) you can stalk your favorite idols while they’re in town =) or even stay at the same hotel!
2) it is a dream come true…it feels like a dream being there! because that’s the closest you’ll ever get to them.
3) they ALWAYS have some of Korea’s most popular artists!!
4) it’s fun for all ages. It’s a family event since they’ve got some old school trot singers (like Eru’s dad, Tae Jin Ah!)
